French Conversation

Status:Active, open to new members
Coordinator:
Rene
When: Monthly on Wednesday mornings 10:30 am
1st Wednesday of the month
Venue: Visitors Centre War Memorial Park

This group meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month at the Visitors Centre, War Memorial Park, for two hours.

For this group we use one text book which is about the day to day life of a French schoolboy. We translate about 2 pages per session, for which you can prepare if you wish.

Another text book is a series of short pieces about everyday life which we translate from English to French and vice versa. The leader provides photocopies of each piece. We also use a French magazine from which the leader again provides photocopies of interesting articles which we then translate.

At the beginning of each session members are asked to talk, in French, about anything interesting they have done during the previous month. This is only if they wish to do so. It is very informal, and any preparation is done voluntarily.

We are hopefully a very friendly and informal group, welcoming new members who are looking to practise and improve their French. Generally speaking, it is ‘O’ level French standard.
